3rd Generation Silverado (2014-2018)

3rd Generation Silverado (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018)

The third generation of the Chevrolet Silverado began in 2014 and continued through 2018. This was when chevy started using an LDWS system. The Silverado Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) is what it’s called.

LDWS is an acronym for Lane Departure Warning System, a low-cost form of road safety technology that alerts drivers when they unintentionally drift out of their lanes.

This safety feature is standard on most Silverado high-end trims and is also an available upgrade for Silverado standard and mid-grade trims.

The LDWS uses a small camera positioned just inside the rearview mirror to detect lane markings and alerts the driver when veering out of their lane or traveling on top of a lane line or rumble strip.  It will also alert the driver if the vehicle crosses a detected lane marker continuously for more than three seconds.  It is important to note that Silverado LDWS does not detect or react to crossing traffic lanes or oncoming traffic. Silverado’s LDWS has the capability of working in all weather conditions and at all times of day/night, including during low-light road conditions.
